     Henry Dane was born on 9 September 1893.1 He was the son of Sir Louis William Dane and Edith Norman.2 He married Victoria Alexandrina Katherine Wingate, daughter of General Sir Francis Reginald Wingate, 1st Bt. and Catherine Leslie Rundle, on 7 March 1922.1 He died on 5 December 1942 at age 49 at Tokyo, JapanG, as a prisoner.1
     He was educated at Wellington College, Crowthorne, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Cheltenham College, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He was registered as a Member, Institute of Electrical Engineering (M.I.E.E.)1 He gained the rank of Captain in the Indian Army.1 He fought in the Second World War, where he became a POW.1 He was awarded the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) posthumously.1

General Sir Francis Reginald Wingate, 1st Bt.1

     General Sir Francis Reginald Wingate, 1st Bt. was born on 25 June 1861.2 He was the son of Andrew Wingate and Bessie Turner.2 He married Catherine Leslie Rundle, daughter of Captain Joseph Sparkhall Rundle, on 18 June 1888.2 He died on 28 January 1953 at age 91.3
     He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.)1 General Sir Francis Reginald Wingate, 1st Bt. usually went by his middle name of Reginald.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 27 July 1880 in the Royal Artillery.2 He fought in the Nile Expedition between 1884 and 1885, where he was mentioned in dispatches.2 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1889.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1889.2 He gained the rank of Brevet Major in 1889.2 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1895.2 He gained the rank of Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel in 1896.2 He fought in the Dongola Expedition in 1896.2 He fought in the Sudan Operations between 1897 and 1898.2 He fought in the Fashoda Expedition in 1898.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of St. Michael and St. George (K.C.M.G.) in 1898.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in 1899.2 He held the office of Governor-General of the Sudan between 1899 and 1917.2 He was appointed Knight Commander, Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) in 1900.2 He gained the rank of Major-General in 1903.2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in 1908.2 He wrote the book Captivity in the Mahdi's Camp.2 He wrote the book Mahdism and the Egyptian Sudan.2 He wrote the book Ten Years.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Royal Victorian Order (G.C.V.O.) in 1912.1 He gained the rank of General in 1913.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the Bath (G.C.B.) in 1914.1 He held the office of High Commisioner to Egypt between 1917 and 1919.2 He was appointed Knight Grand Cross, Order of the British Empire (G.B.E.) in 1918.2 He was created 1st Baronet Wingate, of Dunbar, East Lothian, and of Port Sudan [U.K.] on 6 July 1920.3

     Victoria Alexandrina Katherine Wingate was born on 25 November 1899.2 She was the daughter of General Sir Francis Reginald Wingate, 1st Bt. and Catherine Leslie Rundle.3,2 She married Henry Dane, son of Sir Louis William Dane and Edith Norman, on 7 March 1922.1
     From 7 March 1922, her married name became Dane. She lived in 1976 at Stone Cottage, Crockham Hill, Edenbridge, Kent, EnglandG.1
