The Dodgers minor leagues on Friday included two standout scoreless starts, a walk-off magnet, one postponed game and the completion of a suspended game, plus lots of offense.

Player of the day

Orlando Ortiz-Mayr allowed only three singles and a walk in a career-high seven scoreless innings, and struck out seven for Double-A Tulsa on Friday night.

The right-hander has an unsightly 5.54 ERA on the season, though it’s only 2.86 over his last eight starts.

Justin Wrobleski, who will reportedly start for the Dodgers on Sunday in Los Angeles, leads all organization minor leaguers with 78 innings pitched this season. But Ortiz-Mayr is second with 74⅔ innings.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

Oklahoma City trailed five nothing in the second inning and tied the game at 7-7 in the seventh. But Matt Gage allowed four runs in the eighth in a loss to the Las Vegas Aviators (A’s).

Christian Romero got battered for seven runs (four earned) in his three-inning start, including two home runs. Jack Little was able to keep OKC in it with three scoreless, hitless innings in relief, with four strikeouts.

Andre Lipcius and Chris Owings each homered for Oklahoma City.

Double-A Tulsa

The Drillers resumed Thursday’s suspended game by coming back to win late, then got a hit from every starter in a blowout win over the Wichita Wind Surge (Twins) in Friday’s regularly-scheduled contest.

Tulsa scored three in the ninth, erasing a two-run deficit to win the suspended game. The winner came on a two-run home run by outfielder Damon Keith, who delivered his third walk-off hit in the Drillers’ last 14 home games.

In the nightcap, Alex Freeland had two hits, including a double, stole a base, and scored twice out of the leadoff spot. Griffin Lockwood-Powell had two hits, a walk, and drove in two. Yeiner Fernandez hit a solo home run.

Taylor Young walked twice and singled, the latter extending his hit streak to 11 games, the longest by a Driller this season.

High-A Great Lakes

The Loons and West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers) were rained out on Friday, and they will play a doubleheader on Saturday instead.

Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes scored early and often in a road rout of the Visalia Rawhide (D-backs).

First baseman Sean McLain had four hits. Catcher Carlos Rojas had three hits, including a double. Center fielder Juan Alonso hit a three-run home run.

Luke Fox in his third start with Rancho Cucamonga walked more (three) than he struck out (two) but pitched four scoreless innings without allowing a hit.

Moises Brito, a 21-year-old left-hander who was part of the Mitch White trade at the 2022 deadline, struck out two in two scoreless innings in his Low-A debut.

Joe Kelly made his second rehab appearance in Low-A, this time on the road. He allowed a single — the only hit allowed by Quakes pitchers on Friday — and walk to his first two hitters in the fifth inning, but got out of it with a strikeout and double play. Kelly also got a special introduction in Visalia.

Arizona Complex League

It was a seven-inning game with three different pitchers and wasn’t a shutout, but a no-hitter is still a no-hitter. The Dodgers ACL team allowed no hits to beat the Guardians 2-1 on Saturday.

Hyun-Seok Jang started and got the first eight outs, five by strikeouts, and walked a pair. Ricardo Montero got the final out of the third inning then walked four in the fourth inning for Cleveland’s only run. Nicolas Cruz escaped further damage during that inning by getting a double play to end the frame, then retired the final nine batters of the game, too. Cruz struck out three in his 3... scoreless innings.

Catcher Victor Rodrigues, who shepherded the three-pitcher, seven-inning no-hitter, shared in an Instagram story a picture of the scorecard from the game signed by Jang and Rodrigues along with a baseball from the game commemorating the no-hitter.

Transactions

Triple-A: The Dodgers called up both James Outman and Gus Varland, and optioned left-hander Nick Ramirez to Oklahoma City.

High-A: On Friday, outfielder Josue De Paula was placed on the 7-day injured list.
