license

[edit]

@Metamorforme42: I removed the instance of (P31) free software claim because GeoGebra as a whole is not Free Software although part of it should be under GPL. When checking out the repository with svn co http://dev.geogebra.org/svn/trunk/ it pulls both GPL parts (geogebra/common/src/gpl/resources for instance) and non free parts ( geogebra/common/src/nonfree/resources/ for instance), which makes the repository, as a whole, not Free Software. It may be possible to build and use a subset of GeoGebra which does not use any proprietary elements. But this subset is not GeoGebra, it does not have a name and there are no instructions to do so. I'd be grateful if you could verify this analysis: this is a complex situation and having two pair of eyes is a good thing :-) Dachary (talk) 20:43, 29 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Dachary: I added declaration for non free license and set an obsolete rank for free software declaration (so this error would not be restored by someone who see the software is (partly) licensed under GPL). — Metamorforme42 (talk) 16:48, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

open source software

[edit]

@Metamorforme42: when you added open source software, did you want to express that the sources are available although not under a license that makes it free software ? Dachary (talk) 11:55, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Dachary: Yes. Was I wrong ? — Metamorforme42 (talk) 18:54, 2 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Metamorforme42: the Open Source Definition has requirements that go beyond publishing the source code. Dachary (talk) 22:52, 7 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Dachary: Ok, I reverted myself. — Metamorforme42 (talk) 11:49, 8 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
