Railway lines near Arnhem

[edit]

Hi A67-A67, at Q996027 you see differences between nederlands wikipedia and other languages: Q750815 is in nearly all languages from Oberhausen to Arnhem, and Q801840 ist in nearly all languages from Amsterdam to Arnhem. just the nederlands wikipedia defines them otherwise. What to do? should we remove the netherlands links? -- Gerd Fahrenhorst (talk) 19:59, 21 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, The Dutch Rhijnspoorweg is from Amsterdam to the German border, so it makes sense that the article on the Dutch Wikipedia is about the entire line, not just the Amsterdam-Arnhem section. The article on the English Wikipedia is also about the entire line, although it's named after the Amsterdam–Arnhem railway, with Amsterdam–Elten railway as secondary name. I think they wanted to use the main cities and both ends in the title instead of Elten. Looking at the map on Q801840 and the properties country (P17) and located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) on both items, Wikidata also uses the border as separation between both railways. Therefore I don't think it's just the Dutch Wikipedia that defines it otherwise.
If I understand you correctly you want to make 4 Wikidata items: Amsterdam-Elten (link to nl wiki), Amsterdam-Arnhem (link to other wikis), Elten-Oberhausen (link to nl wiki) and Arnhem-Oberhausen (link to other wikis)? I don't know if it'd good to have overlapping railway line items in this way and it would disrupt links between the Dutch and other Wikipedias. A67-A67 (talk) 03:44, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, do you offer any alternative solution? You just changed Westervoort bridge (Q996027) in a way that it is wrong for all other languages, and wrong if we look at the language independent wikidata definitions of the railway lines. Please do not look at the Netherlands wikipedia but on the Wikidata item definitions used. I suggest to separate Elten-Oberhausen (link to nl wiki) and Arnhem-Oberhausen (link to other wikis) -- Gerd Fahrenhorst (talk) 10:36, 30 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I did the separation Oberhausen–Emmerich railway (Q122144143) from Oberhausen–Arnhem railway (Q750815). Please add nederlands description of the new item. I used Emmerich as end point because that is the title of the nederlands lemma, and because it is the more important station (and electricity changes etc). You may add interwiki links manually in the nederlands article like de:Bahnstrecke Oberhausen–Arnhem. -- Gerd Fahrenhorst (talk) 07:48, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for adding the new item. I've added some Dutch descriptions. A67-A67 (talk) 15:49, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, I think nl:Project Derde Spoor Zevenaar - Duitsland should get some updates (completion years etc.), maybe you could edit it? -- Gerd Fahrenhorst (talk) 19:12, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That article indeed seems to be outdated, but I'm not an editor of the Dutch Wikipedia. I try to focus on Wikidata - Openstreetmap connections. A67-A67 (talk) 19:22, 11 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
