Bryophyte merge

[edit]

How certain are you that this merge of còinneach into moss (Q25347) "moss" is correct as opposed to merging into bryophyte (Q29993) "bryophyte"? There isn't enough information in the article for me to determine which meaning of "bryophyte" is intended by the article. --EncycloPetey (talk) 18:14, 27 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good point - there are a lot of very very short stubs that were created a long time ago on the Gaelic wikipedia that need a lot of work. We don't have anything directly useful from the Natural History Museum's web page or Scottish Natural Heritage. We do have Edward Dwelly though: https://faclair.com/ViewDictionaryEntry.aspx?ID=F552365B606A280E3EF1346FA989562F who says "1. Moss, fog. 2§ Order of ferns called bryaceae. Air lic chòinnich, on mossy slopes." which looks more precise, but "fog" in Scots includes lichens as well: https://dsl.ac.uk/entry/snd/fog What do you recommend? --CreagNamBathais (talk) 07:58, 28 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
