merging

[edit]

if you merge two items, please request the deletion of the empty item (with a link to the other item in the reason). additionally, assure that all claims and labels/descriptions are in the item that is not deleted. --Akkakk 23:53, 6 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I find that the root of this problem are useless bot generated items containing only English Wikipedia link and often no claims and other such while items just yet not connected to enwiki are available. So I haven't bothered to clean up after bots. It should be possible to let them clean after themselves too, isn't it? Moreover, when adding links to assumingly unconnected article on client-side then it's pretty much unnoticed that single sitelink item gets emptied. Also, it seems that most items that I have emptied earlier were dealt with using the list of items without sitelinks, hopefully with no big trouble. Anyways, if it's still a problem that I have ignored the issues you brought up, then I try to help cleaning up such things (manually) in future. Pikne 06:39, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
the bot couldn't know that these two pages are related, since neither et:Johannes Mikkel nor de:Johannes Mikkel ever had an interwiki link. --Akkakk 18:53, 7 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No idea why I emptied the item on this subject as there wes no duplicate item, thanks for noticing my mistake. Generally my idea was that there doesn't seem to be much of a point for bots to create items with only one sitelink as this leads to duplicate item whenever the first language link is added on client-side. merging #2

[edit]

If you merge, please merge into the item with more properties and request a deletion.--CENNOXX (talk) 11:23, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Generally I would do that. But as said, these items with single sitelink are unnoticed when adding language links on client-side. (Software automatically chooses the item into what to merge.) And again, I don't feel like cleaning after bots manually. As there are tons of similar duplicate items with single sitelink, couldn't you just clean them up as soon as they are emptied and appear in the list of items without sitelinks, without nominating each for deletion separately?
