  • Historical Background: Incorporated on November 4, 1894, West Palm Beach is the oldest incorporated municipality in Southeast Florida. The city's founder, industrialist Henry Flagler, laid out the core of the city, naming its streets after native plants like Banyan, Poinsettia, Fern and Clematis, the latter of which is now the heart of the city's nightlife and entertainment scene as well as City Hall. 
  • Architectural and Historical Significance: West Palm Beach boasts 16+ locally historic districts, with several listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It's buildings feature Mediterranean Revival style architecture using local sourced materials such as coral and yellow pine wood. 
  • Geographic and Demographics: Covering and area of 57.73 square miles with an elevation of 13ft above sea level, West Palm each serves as the county seat of Palm Beach County, Florida. According to the U.S.Census 2020, the population was 117, 286, with the 2023 estimate at 120, 932.
  • Growth and Development: West Palm Beach is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country and serves as the hub of business, entertainment and culture in Palm Beach County. 
  • Leadership: Mayor Keith James is the city's first African-American 'strong mayor' and continues to be a champion of bringing new businesses to the city while creating an environment that supports a Community of Opportunity for All.
