FORECAST: Hot and steamy for Friday

Be prepared for some scattered storms in the afternoon and evening with more on the way for Saturday.

WASHINGTON — The heat continues for Friday.

Forecast:
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy with evening scattered storms. Low: 76.
Friday: Some sun, hot and humid with spotty p.m. storms. High: 96.
Saturday: Partly sunny and hot with p.m. storms. High: 93.

Showers will move out in time for the firework displays to go off without a weather hitch, although a leftover shower or two isn't out of the question.

A Code Orange Air Quality Alert has also been issued for poor air quality for sensitive groups for D.C., Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William Counties.

Friday will start off partly to mostly sunny and warm. By the afternoon highs will soar into the mid 90s but with the humidity it will feel like the low triple digits. A Heat Advisory has been issued for Friday from noon until 8 p.m. so try to limit outdoor activities. Clouds will increase late in the day and showers will roll in overnight. 

More wet weather is on the way for Saturday. Expect widespread afternoon showers and isolated storms with high temperatures still climbing into the mid 90s.

Detailed Forecast:
Thursday Night: Lots of clouds with scattered showers diminishing. An evening thunderstorm is possible. Lows: 72 - 81. Winds: Wind S/SW Around 5.
Friday: A mix of clouds and some sunshine with spotty evening showers and thunderstorms. Hot and humid. Highs: 91 - 96. Winds: S 5 - 10.
Friday Night: A shower or storm before midnight. Lows: 70 - 78. Winds SW 5 - 10. 
Saturday: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. Continued hot and humid. Highs: 87- 93. Winds: SW 5 - 10. 

Conditions turn a bit more comfortable for Sunday and Monday and humidity values drop. It will still be hot, in the low 90s, but it won't be as humid.

Higher humidity returns Tuesday along with storm chances that will last through mid-week.

Sunday: Mostly sunny and continued hot. Not quite as humid. Highs: 86 - 91.
Monday: Sunshine, giving way to increasing clouds. Highs: 88 - 93.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy with spotty mainly afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Continued hot. Humid.. Highs: 89 - 94.
Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with an isolated shower or thunderstorm. Highs: 84 - 89.
