|I'm Joel Beck. I'm a retired Desert Storm Air Force Veteran. I'm not a politician in that I've never held elective office and have never had any political aspirations
I'm running for office for one reason. There is a need for true representation in Washington for those that live in Northern Nevada. If I felt that OUR needs were being served, I'd be happy to continue to live my life as I have. But just as when I was called to serve and was placed on active duty while an employee of United Airlines and reservist where I flew the C-5 cargo plane to supply our troops, I feel compelled to serve yet again.
America has its share of challenges and time is of the essence in meeting them
- America First
- Earn the salary of the position by actually reading legislation obligating my constituents PRIOR to casting my vote
- Move America to a Constitutimnally limited rather than an omnificent Federal government
What is the responsibility of a Representative in Congress?
What is it that they are expected and paid to do?
Is it to meet with and listen to those that they represent?
Is it to actually read legislation in it's entirety BEFORE voting on it?
Is it to be a citizen or a Government Official?
Should the voices of those that they represent be what compels how one votes?
Should an effort be made to actually participate in the process?
I've made assumptions about these questions myself as to what should happen. My assumptions were wrong. This is NOT what is happening.
Northern Nevada does not have a representative that does ANY of these things
If Nevada is ready for someone to actually perform the job as is expected, I'd like to serve. Not as an elitist, arrogant, career Government Official, but as a humble, self deprecating, hard working Public Servant that has actually read the US Constitution, understands it and its intended purpose
If that is what you are looking for in a Representative, I'd appreciate you making the effort to vote for a change in Washington and I promise to do my best to serve all of Northern Nevada with your help and continued input.
Please go to my website beckforcongress.us, look for me on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram. Also, feel free to reach out to me at any time. After all, at the end of the day, isn't that what the job is all about?
Thomas Jefferson.
He was a hard worker that understood the problems with having an oppressive government.
Common Sense: The Origin and Design of Government by Thomas Paine
The Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson
The Federalist Papers by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay
Americans often times don't know the "WHY" of why our Nation is great.
Honesty and hard working and always remembering the duties of the position in looking after those that you represent.
Honesty, integrity and belief that people are generally good.
Obey the Oath of office
That I made a difference for my country
It is supposed to be the closest to the people. That if the individual in the office does not perform, they are able to be replaced in a short period of time before the can do too much harm.
I don't think that is beneficial to have been a career politician. In fact, I believe, it is a detriment as often times these individuals are corrupted by "The System"
Limiting the size and scope of our Federal government and its involvement in ALL aspects of American's lives.
Defense, aviation and veterans issues
Yes, but no more than 8
I'm in favor of them. Incumbents are difficult to remove and they know this and act accordingly. Often times forgetting what their job is and ignoring those that they are supposed to represent.
Ron Paul. He also believes in a Constitutionally limited Federal government
