    Gujarat's draft norms for power cos may increase challenges for private cos, says industry body

    The regulator has extended the last date for submitting feedback on the draft document to September 24 and extended public hearing on the matter – which was to be held on Friday -- until further notice.

    Synopsis

    Once the norms are finalised, they will form the basis of contracts for supply of electricity by a generating company to a distribution licensee, retail supply of electricity, and other tariffs that are under the purview of the regulator.

    The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission’s proposed multi-year tariff norms, if approved, may increase uncertainty and could hurt private power producers, an industry body has said in its feedback to the regulator.
