    Gammon, IVRCL and L&T amongst the 22 firms qualifying for bidding on the Eastern Freight Corridor

    Synopsis

    Gammon, L&T and IVRCL were amongst the 22 firms qualifying for the work of Design, Procurement and construction of track and track related works for a stretch on Mughalsarai – Sonnagar Section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor.

    NEW DELHI: Gammon, L&T and IVRCL were amongst the 22 firms qualifying for the work of Design, Procurement and construction of track and track related works for a stretch on Mughalsarai – Sonnagar Section of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor.

    Other firms that have qualified include Simplex Infrastructure Ltd, Tata Projects and Gannon Dunkerley & Co. Ltd. All the prequalified bidders would be submitting bids by 16 May, 2012. The section has been planned to be opened by December 2013, ahead of the main project.

    The bids for Signalling and other system related work for the above section have also been invited and are under evaluation.

    Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation (DFCC) is constructing over 3300 km. long Eastern & Western freight corridors exclusively for movement of goods trains.

    The total length of Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor is 1839 km starting from Dankuni to Ludhiana, passing through 6 states i.e. West Bengal , Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab.

    World Bank had agreed to provide loan for 1185 Km. section from Mughalsarai to Ludhiana in 3 phases. The loan agreement for phase I from Kanpur to Khurja amounting to $975 million has already been signed in October 2011.
