MUMBAI: Times Centre for Learning Ltd (TCLL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with INSEAD, one of the world’s leading business schools, to launch executive education programmes in India.

Under the MoU, the organisations will bring INSEAD’s flagship Blue Ocean Strategy programme to India for the first time. This will help top executives discover new strategies and use ‘value innovation’ concepts that will put their companies ahead of rivals.

The partnership will also see INSEAD and TCLL design and develop a long-term programme for leaders of family businesses in India.

"Our partnership comes from the future vision of Indian businesses where there is an increasing emphasis on business and innovation strategies that take one ahead in a fast-changing and competitive global scenario," said Jukka Majanen, director, corporate partnerships, INSEAD.

The Blue Ocean Strategy programme, which is targeted at senior executives, business owners and executives from the mid to upper levels of management, will be an intensive three-day programme featuring lectures, discussions, case analyses and simulation exercises. The Family Business Programme will be focused on individuals with at least three to five years of experience in running family businesses and give participants the opportunity to study at INSEAD campuses in Singapore and France.

“Blue Ocean Strategy was originally conceptualised by INSEAD professors based on over a decade of research,” Majanen said. “Through this first-ofa-kind executive programme in India, participants will learn how to create uncontested market space–their own blue ocean. It challenges everything you thought you knew about strategic success and provides a systematic and practical approach to making the competition irrelevant.”

The association with INSEAD comes at a time when India is looking at innovation in a big way, said Anish Srikrishna, president, TCLL.

“With new-age innovation being at the top of the order, learning about Blue Ocean Strategy is only likely to push the envelope of innovation further and address competition strategically,” he said, adding that for familyrun enterprises, innovation is key to staying relevant in a globally competitive world.

TCLL is part of The Times of India Group, which publishes The Economic Times.
