The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has decided to provide development permission to realty projects that have secured height Non-Objection Certificate from Airport Authority of India (AAI) in a move that will help spur real estate development in the areas around the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport.

These areas fall under the purview of Navi Mumbai Airport Influence Notified Area (NAINA). Through this, real estate developers will be able to carry out constructions up to the permissible height mentioned in the NOCs issued by the AAI.

“CIDCO will soon grant commencement certificates and occupancy certificates to developers who have valid Non-Objection Certificates for height. This will remove the hurdles in the development of various projects in Navi Mumbai and NAINA region and further stimulate the development of this region. Similarly, concerned developers and citizens will also get relief from this decision,” said Sanjay Mukherjee, vice chairman & managing director, CIDCO.

“We highly appreciate this move by CIDCO as this is bound to increase the number of project launches in the next few months and give a huge boost to the real estate industry in Navi Mumbai. There was a sense of apprehension as quite a few projects were stuck. However, the decision to allow approvals to projects having valid height clearance NOCs from AAI will provide a huge relief to many developers in the region," said Rajesh Prajapati, founder president, CREDAI-MCHI Raigad.

CIDCO is developing over 1,160 hectares of land in Panvel taluka of Raigad district near the Navi Mumbai International Airport. Restrictions were imposed on the height of several constructions in Navi Mumbai and NAINA region and this had hampered the development of many projects despite receiving Non-Objection Certificate from CIDCO, as a planning authority.

Considering this, Mukherjee made efforts to resolve the issue along with the support of AAI and Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd., the -concessionaire company developing the airport.

Several meetings were conducted among the representatives of CIDCO, AAI and Navi Mumbai International Airport Ltd. After that it was decided to issue Commencement Certificate and Occupancy Certificate for construction permit to those developers who have received Non-Objection Certificate from Airport Authority of India and which is valid.

CIDCO has already accelerated the implementation of the NAINA project that will develop over 371 sq km of land surrounding the Navi Mumbai International Airport and cover 175 villages of Raigad.

To prevent the haphazard development in the surrounding areas of Navi Mumbai International Airport, the town planning authority has proposed this project. Ends
