For bookworms in India, this is probably the best piece of news in a long time. India has become the first Asian country to launch Amazon’s flagship Kindle programme called Amazon Unlimited. The service is currently available only in US, UK, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, France, Italy and Spain.

Under the programme, once you subscribe to it, you can choose from over a million titles and download your chosen books on your Kindle. This offer isn’t limited to readers who own Kindle tablets but everyone who has the free Kindle app installed on their devices across mobile phones, tablets and laptops.

There is a limit of 10 books per month that you can add to your library every month. There is no due date by which you have to complete the books too. So, if you finish three books in one month, you can download three new books the following month while keeping the other seven you already picked. Even the most avid reader will agree that this is a substantial number of books to get through in a month’s time.

Coming to the titles, you might not find the latest bestseller on the list just yet but there are plenty of popular choices on offer. From Amish Tripathi’s ‘Immortals of Meluha’ to Chetan Bhagat’s books, there is no dearth of options even for the most common reader in the country. Other titles by authors like J. K. Rowling and Robin Sharma among others is also available under Amazon Unlimited.

For bookworms who aren’t totally convinced about a particular book or author or those who are looking to ‘buy’ less books, Amazon Unlimited is a great way to read books that they would otherwise have to ‘invest’ in.

Just to sweeten the deal even further, Amazon has announced a launch offer subscription price of Rs 99 for Amazon Unlimited. It’s definitely hard to argue against this deal.
