    Mithun Chakraborty health update: Actor hospitalised after chest pain, son Mahaakshay says ‘Disco Dancer’ is better after treatment

    The actor was admitted to the Emergency Ward of Apollo Hospital in Saltlake on Saturday after he complained of chest pains. According to his elder son Mahaakshay aka Mimo, he is doing better.

    Veteran actor Mithun Chakraborty was hospitalised on Saturday after he complained of chest pain. He is currently admitted to Apollo Hospital in Saltlake. He is undergoing treatment.

    According to an India Today report, the ‘Disco Dancer’ star suffered a cerebral attack.

    In an interview with ETimes, the actor’s son Mahaaakshay confirmed that the actor is currently in good health.

    The actor, who enjoyed success in both Bollywood as well as Tollywood (the Bengali film industry), has featured in more than 350 films in a career spanning more than five decades. He was recently conferred with the Padma Bhushan award.

    In January, the actor responded to the honour. In a video, he appeared emotional and thanked his fans for their unconditional love. “After a lot of struggle and hard work, I have finally received such an honour... It is a feeling I can't express. I am dedicating this to all my fans in India and abroad, who have given me unconditional love,” he said.

    Who Is Mithun Chakraborty?

    One of the most celebrated stars of the ‘80s, Chakraborty has enjoyed a flourishing career, both in Bollywood, as well as in the Bengali film industry. He is perhaps best known for the 1982 blockbuster ‘Disco Dancer’ where he essayed the role of Jimmy, an aspiring musician. The movie was a major success in not just India, but in Russia as well.

    He made his cinematic debut in the Mrinal Sen directorial ‘Mrigaya’. His brilliant performance as Ghinua, a naïve tribal youth, fetched him a National Award for Best Actor.

    His other notable performances include ‘Shaukeen’, ‘Jag Utha Insaan’, ‘Hum Paanch’, ‘Jallad’, ‘Prem Pratigyaa’, ‘Daata’, ‘Bees Saal Baad’ etc.

    He last appeared in the titular role in the 2023 film ‘Kabuliwala’. Directed by Suman Ghosh, the movie is an adaptation of Rabindranath Tagore’s timeless short story.
