Indian-origin British leader Rishi Sunak’s ascension to the Prime Minister of the UK has stirred considerable interest around the world, especially among Indians and the Indian diaspora.

While Netizens had celebrated the occasion with memes, GIFs and hilarious commentaries, it seems with each passing day Sunak is giving more reasons for Indians to revel. The latest video shows Sunak extending an invitation to an Indian uncle.

The now-viral video shows the UK Prime Minister inviting an uncle from India to visit him at his Downing Street residence. The video was shared by celebrity chef Sanjay Raina on his Twitter account. The short clip shows Sunak interacting with Raina’s uncle, where he requests him to visit him at Downing Street whenever he flies down to London. Raina shared the short clip with the caption, “Visa on arrival ab pakka’ (Visa on arrival is now confirmed!)”.

In the clip, Raina begins the conversation on a video call with his mama (uncle). “Mama, I have got somebody to say hello to you,” says Raina and the camera pans to Sunak. The PM takes over and says, “ Vijay mama, hi. It’s Rishi, how are you?”. He later invites the Indian uncle saying, “Hopefully, you come here and see me. So when you get here, tell your nephew Sanjay to bring you to Downing Street. Take care."
The video went viral minutes after it was shared by the popular chef. It has so far garnered over 16K likes, and around 2K retweets. The tweet led to a barrage of comments with many sharing hilarious memes. Several commenters also alluded that the ‘mama’ in contention was Indian businessman and fugitive Vijay Mallya.

Sunak was designated as the new Prime Minister of Britain after Liz Truss tendered her resignation on October 20. The 42-year-old’s ascension is historic as it was a unique feat for any Indian-origin individual to assume the most powerful position in the UK.
