Lakhanpal follows the Pomodoro technique to carve out her work time into little chunks and take a 5 minute break between tasks.
Fitness for her mind and body is important to Shikha Lakhanpal, Co-Founder, Living Food Co. And to make sure she stays healthy during these turbulent times, she turns to yoga. “I have been practicing throughout the pandemic and it has been a tremendous gift,” she says. However, not having in-person classes is something she has missed. “I miss doing yoga at the Studio where I get a chance to understand body alignment deeper.” Apart from yoga, the young entrepreneur can’t wait to get back to travelling and visiting some of her favourite restaurants.

To the mountains: I love the mountains and the Himalayas are my absolute favourite place. The tallest and the youngest mountains in the world always inspire me. I would love to travel to the Great Himalayan National Park with my team. I really miss being outdoors. A walk in a dense forest and a trek with breathtaking views is something I can’t wait to pamper myself with.

Add flavour to life: Food experiences are best when served with authenticity. I love Thai food for its complex and umami flavours. A personal favourite is Rim Naam in Bangalore which is led by a Thai Chef. I would love to eat there again. When it comes to shopping, I have missed going to the eclectic flea markets around the world, especially in Berlin. I wish I had purchased a lot of plants before the lockdown as I love being around nature and greenery. Taking care of plants and watching them grow and blossom is a very rewarding experience for me.

Tech update: A good piece of headphones and dual monitors are great accessories for WFH. I have been working from the office as we have been operational throughout the pandemic. When working from home, I use the timeboxing or Pomodoro technique. It helps me carve out my work time into little chunks and take a 5 minute break between tasks.

Downtime: I enjoy cooking, yoga and reading books. 'Delivering Happiness' by Tony Hsieh is my all-time favourite book. It’s the story of Zappos and is all about creating a stronger company culture, which will make your employees and co-workers happier and create more employee engagement, leading to higher productivity.

I took up gardening as a hobby during the pandemic. I invested in a lot of gardening equipment, tools and learnt about composting and how to use kitchen waste as manure for plants. It gives me an unending sense of calm and has also taught me the virtues of patience.
