    • Controversy erupted after Shubh shared a distorted map of India on Instagram
    • Moj removed Shubh's songs, says it's committed to a 'positive creator community'

    • Virat Kohli unfollowed the singer on Instagram after row broke out
Troubles seem to have mounted for Canadian-Punjabi singer Shubhneet Singh, widely known as Shubh, after his India concert hit a wrong note. Moj, a short video-sharing platform, on Wednesday removed songs by the Canadian-Punjabi singer from its music library in the wake of the growing protest following a distorted map of India that the singer had shared on one of his Instagram stories. Earlier on Tuesday, ticketing platform BookMyShow announced that the singer's multi-city India tour was being cancelled.

    Moj's Stance On Divisive Content

Moj on Wednesday issued a statement on Twitter after the singer's social post showing a distorted India map created a furore. In its tweet, the platform emphasised that it was committed to nurturing a positive creator community, and would not align with "any artist propagating divisive content." Moj is a brand deeply committed to fostering a vibrant creator community. In alignment with our values, any artist propagating divisive content has no home on our platform."

As a result, all of Shubh's songs have been removed from Moj's in-app music library.

    Sponsorship Withdrawals

On Wednesday, BookMyShow, the online ticket booking platform and sponsor of Shubh's India tour, had announced the tour's abrupt cancellation. They assured ticket holders that refunds would be promptly processed within 7-10 working days.

Adding to the list of sponsors distancing themselves from the singer, electronics brand boAt also withdrew its sponsorship on Tuesday, citing their commitment to being a true Indian brand and their desire to disassociate from Shubh's earlier controversial remarks.

They stated, "At boAt, while our commitment to the incredible music community runs deep, we are first & foremost a true Indian brand. Therefore, when we became aware of the remarks made by artist Shubh earlier this year, we chose to withdraw our sponsorship from the tour."

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli, who had earlier expressed his admiration for Shubh on social media, has also unfollowed the musician.

    Shubh's Controversial Instagram Post

The controversy started back in March when Shubh shared a distorted map of India on his Instagram story, omitting regions like Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Alongside the image, he wrote "Pray for Punjab," which sparked immediate criticism and allegations of supporting the Khalistani movement. Shubh later deleted the map, replacing it with a message that only read "Pray for Punjab" without any accompanying picture.

After Shubh had shared the controversial Story, trouble for him escalated as the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), submitted a memorandum to the Commissioner of Police in Mumbai, demanding strict action against the singer and the cancellation of his India tour.

Shubh, an emerging Punjabi rapper, gained fame with his song 'Still Rollin,' which garnered significant attention on Instagram reels. His debut single 'We Rollin,' released in 2021, has accumulated over 201 million views on YouTube as of 2023. Recently, he released his debut album titled 'Still Rollin.'
