    Temple run: Mukesh Ambani offers prayers at Kedarnath & Badrinath, donates Rs 5 cr

    In the run-up to Diwali, Mukesh Ambani, one of India’s richest industrialists, was recently seen seeking divine blessings. The 65-year-old business magnate was snapped while he visited the holy shrines at Kedarnath and Badrinath Dham in Uttarakhand earlier this week .

    The billionaire offered prayers and also donated a sum of Rs 5 crore to the temple committees. The industrialist was clicked performing puja at both temples.
    Kedarnath and Badrinath are part of the Char Dham, which are considered to be among the most holy places in the Hindu religion. A trip to these shrines hold significant value for Hindus worldwide.

    According to mythology, a trip to these sacred destinations may render one with moksha or salvation. Each year over a million people visit the temples along the Char Dham. The other two Dhams are Gangotri and Yamunotri.

    This is the third time this year that Ambani was spotted at a temple. On September 17, the business tycoon was seen offering prayers at the Guruvayur Shri Krishna Temple in Kerala. During his visit to the Kerala shrine, he was accompanied by youngest son Anant's fiancée Radhika Merchant. Pictures of Ambani offering ghee in the inner sanctum of the temple along with his family had gone viral.

    The Chairman and MD of Reliance Industries (RIL) was also seen making offerings to the elephants Chenthamarakshan and Balaraman at the temple. Ambani was dressed in traditional Malayali attire and was welcomed to the temple by the Guruvayur Devaswom Board Chairman Prof PK Vijayan. The billionaire was presented with a mural painting during his visit.

    Ambani donated Rs 1.5 crore to the ancient temple during his visit. Dr Vijayan told mediapersons that after visiting the Guruvayur temple, the Reliance boss presented a cheque. He added that when he opened the envelope it had a cheque worth Rs 1.51 crore. The Guruvayur Devaswom Board Chairman said that it was the highest amount ever donated by a devotee to the temple.

    The next day, Ambani had also visited the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. He was accompanied by Merchant and Reliance Retail Ltd Director Manoj Modi. The business tycoon also offered Rs 1.5 crore to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam.

    The 65-year-old said that the temple was improving and getting better with each passing year and this made all Indians proud. He told reporters that he came to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara for all.

    The 1957-born billionaire is the chairman and managing director of RIL, a Fortune Global 500 company and India's most valuable company by market value. From oil to retail and telecom, RIL has a diverse portfolio with Ambani's net worth being estimated at $95.7 bn (Bloomberg Billionaires Index, September 2022). Ambani is currently the second richest person in Asia after Gautam Adani and the 8th richest in the world.

    The Ambanis are one of the most influential business clans in India. Recently, during the nationwide celebration of the 75th Independence Day, their luxurious abode 'Antilia' was lit up in the Tri-colour. The decorations prompted many people to click pictures, selfies and recording videos.

    Ambani's eldest son, Akash Ambani, recently caught the attention of the paparazzi after he borrowed his dad's Bentley Bentayga V8 worth Rs 4.10 cr to meet Ranbir Kapoor & Alia Bhatt. The other cars in the Ambani fleet include a Maybach 62, Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon, Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe and Range Rover Vogue among others.
