Days before Independence Day this year, billionaire boss Rishad Premji took a trip down memory lane during the weekend.

Remembering his grandfather MH Hasham Premji, the Chairman of Wipro stumbled upon an unseen black-and-white picture of his grandpa and shared it on X (formerly known as Twitter).

"This is a never seen before photograph of my grandfather which was recently discovered," his tweet caption read.

In the picture, Premji Sr could be seen dressed in his best Jodhpuri suit with a floral garland around his neck.

Recalling his grandfather's legacy, the 46-year-old said that MH Hasham Premji founded Wipro's consumer care business in December 1945, two years before the Independence of India.

The IT boss' caught his more than 150K followers on X by surprise. Many pointed out the striking resemblance between the grandfather and the grandson.

Biocon Executive Chairperson Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw couldn't get over how similar both looked.

This is not the first time Premji has shared pictures of his grandparents. In January 2021, Premji credited his grandmother Dr Gulbanoo Premji for shaping the values at Wipro and setting up a children's hospital. She was the chairperson of the company from 1966-83, and a huge support for her son Azim in his early years.

He also said that he never had a chance to meet his grandfather.

Two years ago, the Premjis penned 'The Story of Wipro' - a book about the making of the IT major - to mark the incredible journey of 75 years in December 2021.

From making vanaspati (ghee made with hydrogenated palm/vegetable oil) to creating a diversified global business, Wipro's journey began in 1945.

In 1945, MH Hasham Premji registered a company, named Western India Vegetable Products Ltd (now abbreviated to Wipro), that manufactured vegetable and refined oils in Amalner, a town in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district.

Azim Premji took over the vanaspati business at the age of 21 and headed it for 53 years.
