Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that BJP is the only secular party and this party never deprived anybody from any religious affiliations of his or her rights and privileges.

Sonowal who took part in an election rally at Batadroba for BJP candidate Angoorlta Deka said that the voters in this years’ election should take a pledge to make Atmanirbhar Assam and therefore re-elect the BJP led government to run the state.

Sonowal said that the BJP led government in the last five years introduced good governance in the state in contrast to the nose deep corruption, nepotism and poor performance of the previous Congress led government. As a result, the people living in Barak, Brahmaputra, hills and plains were deprived of their rights and privileges. However, in the last five years the beneficiaries across the state enjoyed the benefits of the government schemes thus ending the years’ of ‘middlemen’ culture propagated by the Congress.

Although the opposition parties from time to time put their allegations branding the BJP as the communal party, no body belonging to minority community was deprived of their rights. Everybody belonging to religious community enjoyed the benefits of the government schemes. As against the Congress which patronized middlemen culture and corruption for providing any government schemes, the BJP led government eliminated corruption enabling people of all sections to receive government schemes.

Sonowal also said that in reality BJP is the only secular party and this party never deprived anybody from any religious affiliations of his or her rights and privileges. He said that during the Congress led government the state was afflicted with riots in the name of caste, community, creed and ethnicity. Many lives were lost in those strife. On the other hand, during the tenure of the BJP led government all sections of the people of the state have been living peacefully promoting the tenets of universal brotherhood in the state.
