A Bengaluru court on Monday remanded rape-accused former MP Prajwal Revanna to two weeks in judicial custody. He was taken to the central prison in Bengaluru.

Revanna, who lost the Lok Sabha polls recently as the NDA’s candidate from Hassan, was arrested on May 31, when he returned to the country after a prolonged absence. The former Prime Minister HD Dewe Gowda's grandson is battling charges of sexual abuse of women after pen drives of explicit videos allegedly involving him surfaced in Hassan and other places days ahead of the April 26 polls. Following his first court appearance on May 31, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case had Prajwal’s custody till June 6, which was later extended to June 10.

His father, MLA HD Revanna, who represents Holenarasipur in the Assembly, has been battling a case of alleged abduction of a sexual assault victim from her KR Nagar home in Mysuru district. The SIT is also probing him for charges of sexual harassment of a domestic help. He is currently out on bail.

His mother, Bhavani Revanna had been on the run from the police up until Friday, when she received bail and appeared before the SIT for questioning. The SIT has claimed that she was the mastermind of the abduction and that custodial interrogation was necessary. Both Revanna and his wife have been barred from entering KR Nagar in Mysuru district, from where the survivor was allegedly abducted.
