Masterchef has returned for season 2. Anna Haugh got the four competing chefs this season with the difficult task of churning out freshly smoked oysters served in beurre blanc sauce within 20 minutes. Competitor Anastasia did well in this event by trying to recreate the same dish as the judge, but it took some extra time.

Parminder, the Indian dish specialist, tried doing that but couldn’t bring out the required taste, mainly due to his lack of work with oysters and his sauce not being up to the mark. He was congratulated for making a bold attempt at something he never did before.

The next task was set by Marcus, who ordered a fruit pie with jam, dressed in crème patisserie and served with an Italian meringue. The task was tricky, and the competitors struggled to put it all together. Nonetheless, Nathan, the first off the block, made the mistake of using the whole egg, his patisserie looking like a scrambled egg. His meringue saved his dish as edible, according to Anna.

William, who began on the right note, floundered when selecting the correct flour, and his patisserie ended up like a custard. His presentation also took a beating as he couldn’t manage it in time, and judge Gregg decided it was a good attempt.

The chefs who finally made it with the main dish were Parminder, Anastasia and William, and Nathan had to be sent home. Parminder is very good at cooking his meal, whereas the judges had to step in to save Anastasia and William by tweaking the rules.
