Ohio may become a swing state again. Find out howAgencies
In an interesting development, poll numbers are suggesting that Ohio is on the road to becoming a swing state once again as Democrats are showing impressive growth in the state for the midterm cycle. The numbers indicate that the party has a chance of winning the Senate race that will take place between Republican J.D. Vance and Democrat Tim Ryan. Interestingly, Ohio has traditionally been a swing state. Although former US President Barack Obama won Ohio twice - in 2008 and in 2012 - the state has not been favourable for Democrats after that as the party has lost several electoral races in Ohio. Moreover, former President Donald Trump won the state in 2016 and 2020 without any difficulty.

Following US President Joe Biden's loss in Ohio in 2020, political analysts have primarily considered the state a Trump territory. However, Democrat Tim Ryan's rising popularity and promising candidacy challenge the status quo. Poll numbers indicate that Ryan is giving serious competition to Republican Vance. Besides Ryan, several other Democratic candidates are also rising in popularity. The most notable among them is Rep Marcy Kaptur, who has emerged as a tough challenger to Republican J.R. Majewski, who is on the backfoot after coming under scrutiny for being involved in Capitol riots, which took place on January 6, 2021.

Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's former political director Derrick Clay said that Ohio had been a swing state for a long time, and the same trend is visible this time as well. Clay explained that with how Ryan has reached out to rural voters and working-class people throughout the state, his political standing in the state has advanced. However, the Republican political consultant in Ohio, Mark Weaver, has rubbished the reports claiming Democrats' revival in Ohio.

Meanwhile, President Biden will visit the state on Friday to deliver a remark at Intel's new semiconductor facility.
