    Top 50 Vegan dishes in the world: Misal Pav, Rajma Chawal makes the list

    Misal Pav has many varieties as its ingridients can change according to locations. One can have Pune misal, Khandeshi misal, Nashik misal and Ahmednagar misal. In 2015, it was named as the world's tastiest vegetarian dish at the Foodie Hub Awards in London. The award was won by one eatery in particular - Dadar's Aaswad restaurant.

    Misal Pav, a very famous Maharastrian dish, took the 11th spot in the ranking list of world's Best Traditional Vegan Dishes. The ranking was released by Taste Atlas, a food guide platform.

    Misal Pav is a combination of spicy curry made from moth beans, served with toasted bread and garnished with sev, onions, lemon and coriander.

    Misal Pav has many varieties as its ingridients can change according to locations. One can have Pune misal, Khandeshi misal, Nashik misal and Ahmednagar misal. In 2015, it was named as the world's tastiest vegetarian dish at the Foodie Hub Awards in London. The award was won by one eatery in particular - Dadar's Aaswad restaurant.

    This dish was not the only Indian dish that made it to the Top 50 list. Aloo Gobi took the 20th spot which was closely followed by Rajma in the 22nd place and Gobi Manchurian in the 24th place. Rajma Chawal was considered as a separate dish and ranked at the 41st spot.

    The other Indian vegan dishes that got a place in the list included Masala Vada at 27th spot and Bhel puri occupied the 37th place. Tata Atlas specificlaly mentioned Masala Vada on their website. "This tea-time snack is usually made with a combination of chana dal, onions, ginger, curry leaves, fennel seeds, dried red hot peppers, vegetable oil, and salt," said the website. Taste Atlas mentioned also that this particular snack originates from Tamil Nadu, but also clarified that other versions exist.

    Global dishes that made it to top 10 included Maakouda, Andrei copti, Fasole batuta, Mayak Gimbap, guacamole, hummus, spaghetti aglio e olio amongst others.

    In total, seven Indian vegan dishes were in the top 50.
