On Monday, Anthony Santander took Baltimore to its third win with a three-run home run in the ninth inning against Boston Red Sox in a five-game series. The Red Socks had a terrible season where they were shut out for the third time. They finished this season with only four hits. They had won 9 out of 12 and taken their previous four series.

Tyler Wells(2-4) delivered his career's best by going six innings and striking out three. He only allowed a single hit in the second inning by Trevor Story and a double hit in the fourth inning by Xander Bogaerts. Trever Story also tried to draw a walk in the fifth inning, but Wells blocked another baserunner before Dillion Tate could replace them in the seventh inning.

The third hit of the Red Sox was in the eighth inning by Christian Vázquez who doubled and reached the third. This was the closest Boston Red Sox came to scoring. Rich Hill (2-2) was in a fix from the beginning and Wells outpitched him. Hill hit Austin hays with the third pitch and then Trey Mancini tagged him for a triple.

That’s when the ball bounced funnily in the left-centre catching Kiké Hernández by surprise. Trey Mancini tried to score a home run when a pitch got through Vázquez but Rich Hill reached home to cover making a tag off a quick flip from the catcher. However, it left the bases empty for v and he drove a 3-2 pitch over the Boston’s Green Monster. It could have been a two-run homer but it left the Orioles up 2-0.

In the third inning, Mountcastle singled and scored when Urías did a home run to the centre. Hill was brought in the fifth after Mancini's leadoff walk and Mountcastle's double down the left-field line. Hirokazu Sawamura had two runners in the scoring position, and both scored. It added two more runs to Hill's line, giving the Orioles a lead of 6-0.

Later in the match, Strahm gave out 4 runs, snapping a nine game streak.
