    Bengal FM Amit Mitra counters Amit Shah's claim on funds allocated to the state

    KOLKATA: Bengal finance minister Amit Mitra has countered BJP president Amit Shah's claim on funds allocated to the state.

    In a statement issued on Wednesday evening Mitra said, “They are comparing a government of six years with 34 years of Left rule. They are like seasonal birds, coming and going, so they cannot see development. During the first five years of Trinamool government, state plan expenditure has increased from Rs 14,615 crore to Rs 54,069 crore. Capital expenditure has also increased by seven times. State's own revenues have doubled,” he said.
