Dec 15 (The Sports Xchange) - The New England Patriots claimed receiver Michael Floyd off waivers Thursday, three days after he was arrested for a DUI in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The arrest caused the Arizona Cardinals to release Floyd on Wednesday. The 27-year-old was found unconscious behind the wheel of a running vehicle at an intersection.

The Patriots need a receiver with Danny Amendola (ankle) ailing and decided to take a chance on Floyd.

Floyd, a five-year veteran, struggled with the Cardinals this season with 33 receptions for 446 yards and four touchdowns. His best season came in 2013 when he caught 65 passes for 1,041 yards.

Meanwhile, the Patriots worked out veteran return specialist Devin Hester on Thursday. Hester was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.

The Los Angeles Rams placed standout defensive end Robert Quinn on injured reserve, ending a frustrating season for the two-time Pro Bowl selection.

Quinn missed the past two games while in the NFL concussion protocol.

Los Angeles also placed running back Benny Cunningham (neck) on injured reserve and promoted offensive lineman David Arkin and defensive lineman Morgan Fox from the practice squad.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston has settled two federal lawsuits with the former Florida State student who accused him of raping her in 2012.

John Clune, the lawyer for Erica Kinsman, told multiple news outlets the following: "The case has been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties."

Kinsman's lawsuit accusing Winston of sexual battery was scheduled for trial in April. Winston countersued Kinsman and that suit was also settled.

    Settlement terms weren't immediately divulged.

Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman said he felt "stabbed in the back" when Carolina Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman decided to part ways with him last April by rescinding the franchise tag.

The Redskins host the Panthers on Monday night and Norman wasn't shy about the bitterness that remains when he was on a conference call with reporters.

"When that situation came up it was totally out of left field," said Norman, who played with the Panthers from 2012-2015. "It just went downhill from there. It almost felt like I was stabbed in the back in a way."

San Diego Chargers owner Dean Spanos said at Wednesday's NFL owners meeting that he will not make a decision on a possible move to Los Angeles until after the season 2016 concludes.

The league's owners approved a final tenant-lease contract between the Chargers and Los Angeles Rams, who are playing their first season back in Hollywood after moving from St. Louis.

Owners also gave the green light on a debt waiver to help the Chargers finance the $650 million relocation fee.

Cleveland Browns offensive lineman Alvin Bailey was suspended by the NFL two games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

Bailey is in the first year of a three-year contract and his base salary is $1 million. By sitting out games against the Buffalo Bills and San Diego Chargers, Bailey will forfeit $117,647 in salary.

The suspension stems from a Sept. 26 arrest in North Royalton, Ohio. Police arrested Bailey after he had a blood-alcohol content of .147 and officers discovered marijuana in his pickup truck.

Former Dallas quarterback Troy Aikman weighed in on Jerry Jones' comments about Tony Romo possibly replacing rookie Dak Prescott as Cowboys' quarterback during a radio interview.

"I'm not sure that Tony, if it was left up to the owner, wouldn't be the starter now, just based on the comments that I've heard in the last couple weeks," Aikman said Thursday morning in an interview with KTCK-AM 1310 The Ticket.

"I'm just really dumbfounded by the comments, and not only the first time, but why they continue. I don't understand why you would talk."

Green Bay Packers running back James Starks is in the concussion protocol following a car accident earlier this week.

Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy made the announcement and said Starks was in an accident Monday. McCarthy also said Starks told him he was "OK".
