    Luck at brilliant best as Colts pound Jets 41-10

    In his first game back since suffering a concussion, Andrew Luck reminded the Indianapolis Colts they are set at quarterback for the next decade -- and helped officially send the New York Jets back to the drawing board in their quixotic search for a franchise signal-caller. Luck threw four touchdown passes -- including three to tight end Dwayne Allen in the first half -- and finished with the best single-game passer rating of his career Monday night as the Colts moved into a tie for first place in the AFC South by routing the Jets 41-10 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

    Alonso happy at McLaren, says Brown

    McLaren have no fears about losing Fernando Alonso to Mercedes after Formula One world champion Nico Rosberg's sudden retirement, the team's new executive director Zak Brown said on Monday. "We have a contract with Fernando and he's very happy," the American told Sky Sports. "Obviously, he wants to be winning races, as do we, but I am not worried about that scenario (leaving).

    Yankees land Holliday on one-year-deal

    The New York Yankees have landed free agent Matt Holliday, agreeing to terms with the power-hitting outfielder on Sunday, according to a report on Major League Baseball's website. The contract will be a one-year deal with $13 million. Holliday, who turns 37 in January, missed seven weeks last season with a fractured thumb but finished the year batting .246 with 20 homers and 62 RBIs in 110 games.

    Under Armour to supply Major League Baseball uniforms

    Under Armour Inc signed a 10-year contract with Major League Baseball to be its official uniform supplier, the sportswear maker's first such deal with a professional league. The company will become the exclusive provider of all on-field uniform components including jerseys, game-day outerwear and year-round training apparel for all 30 MLB clubs beginning in the 2020 MLB season, replacing Majestic Athletic.

    Panthers' Newton benched for first series due to dress code violation

    Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was benched for the start of his team's 40-7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks due to a dress-code violation, NBC reported on Sunday. Newton's back-up, Derek Anderson, handled the team's first possession. He was in the game for only one snap and threw an interception to Seattle linebacker Mike Morgan, setting up a Seahawks field goal early in the first quarter.

    Former FIFA president Blatter loses appeal against ban

    Former FIFA president Sepp Blatter has lost his appeal against a six-year ban for ethics violations, imposed amid the biggest corruption scandal to shake the world soccer body, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) said on Monday. CAS ruled that Blatter had authorized payments to Michel Platini, then the European football boss, worth over $2 million that amounted to "undue gifts" and therefore violated FIFA's code of ethics.

    Seahawks safety Thomas breaks leg, considers retirement

    Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas fractured his lower left leg on Sunday against the Carolina Panthers and later said he was considering retiring from the NFL. Thomas suffered what was reported as a crack to his tibia during the second quarter. He collided with a team mate while breaking up a pass by Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and was helped off the field.

    Formula One returns to France after 10-year absence

    The French Formula One Grand Prix will return in 2018 after a 10-year absence with the race scheduled to take place at the Circuit Paul Ricard in southern France, regional politician Christian Estrosi said on Monday. "We and those who are with me are very proud...it's a great victory," Estrosi told reporters.

    Thompson first player to post 60 points in under 30 minutes

    Klay Thompson remembers the night Kobe Bryant scored 81 points against the Toronto Raptors on Jan. 22, 2006. Thompson, a teenager growing up in Los Angeles as the son of an NBA player, was offered tickets to the game. He opted not to go.
