Virat Kohli has achieved another remarkable feat, breaking the record set by Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara for scoring over 2000 runs in international cricket the most times in a calendar year. Kohli achieved this milestone during the ongoing test match against South Africa. During the match, Kohli crossed 2000 international runs milestone. This is the seventh time that Kohli has scored 2000 international runs in a calender year.

Kohli also surpassed another Indian cricket legend, Rahul Dravid, during this test match. Playing in his 15th Test against South Africa, Kohli surpassed Dravid's tally of 1252 runs against the Proteas. This achievement places Kohli third in the list of highest run-getters for India against South Africa in Tests. He is now on his way to surpassing Virender Sehwag, who currently holds the second position with 1306 runs in 15 Tests. The top position in this list is held by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, with 1741 runs in 25 Tests.

While Kohli has achieved great success in Test cricket, his performance in the recent World Cup was also exceptional. He finished the tournament as the highest run-scorer, accumulating an impressive total of 765 runs in 11 matches with an average of 95.62. Kohli showcased his talent by scoring three centuries and six fifties throughout the competition.

Notably, during the World Cup, Kohli also broke Tendulkar's record for the most One Day International (ODI) centuries. In the semi-final match against New Zealand, Kohli scored his 50th ODI century, surpassing Tendulkar's milestone. This unforgettable moment took place at the jam-packed Wankhede stadium in Mumbai, where Kohli fulfilled his childhood dream of surpassing his idol.
