Dr. Ajay Mathur, DG, International Solar Alliance

Synopsis

The International Solar Alliance (ISA), an inter-governmental organisation launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2015, is organising its fifth assembly in New Delhi which will be attended by ministers and senior executives from more than 100 member countries. Ahead of the meeting, ISA chief Ajay Mathur spoke to ET Prime about the potential of solar energy and the challenges ahead.

The Russia-Ukraine war has brought the focus on energy security with countries across the world looking for local sources of energy while continuing to scale up their renewables production. Within the renewable energy sector, solar power is one segment that is expected to grow exponentially in the next few years. However, issues ranging from supply chain constraints, volatility in commodity prices, and investments remain a concern. Ajay Mathur,
