Horace Luke, founder and CEO, Gogoro, a Taiwanese company that developed a battery-swapping refuelling platform for urban electric two-wheel scooters, mopeds and motorcycles.

Synopsis

Taiwan-based battery-swapping major Gogoro has started a pilot project in Delhi-NCR. While the company wants to test how its electric scooters perform on Indian roads before going for a full-fledged launch, here’s what we have found out from a durability, safety, and affordability point of view.

Around a week ago, when Taiwan-based battery-swapping major and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Gogoro started its operations in the country, the promise was unheard of in India’s still-evolving EV industry – a six-second battery swap for electric scooters. Gogoro has started a pilot project in Delhi-NCR in partnership with Zypp Electric, which rents out electric scooters for e-commerce delivery. The pilot has kicked off with 100 scooters.
