Synopsis

Airlines tend to play down tailstrikes. But they can cause serious damage that can lead to structural failure and fatal accidents. A DGCA audit into IndiGo’s safety practices reveals serious issues including deviations from the manufacturer’s instructions.

A few weeks back, a video clip had gone viral internally at IndiGo. Shot on the International Flight Attendant Day at the company’s iFly training facility in Gurugram, it showed the airline’s head of operations, Ashim Mitra, breaking into a carefree dance with young crew members who seemed to have just graduated from the academy, as CEO Pieter Elbers cheered on.
