    ET Make in India SME Regional Summit in Kolkata to look at Bengal’s potential and opportunities to uplift MSMEs

    Entering its third city this year, the ET Make in India SME Regional Summit will host brainstorming sessions, networking opportunities and engaging discussions with entrepreneurs and government representatives on developing businesses in the region.

    The SME Summit will also serve as a platform providing networking opportunities to local small businesses and industry leaders.
    The ET Make in India SME Regional Summit will host its third session this year in Kolkata on June 8. The first two sessions this year were conducted in Hyderabad and Lucknow on May 18 and May 25, respectively.

    The upcoming Kolkata summit’s theme will revolve around its potential and opportunities for the state’s MSMEs to become globally competitive.

    The event will begin with a keynote address on the topic “Maximising Government Efforts: Policies and Opportunities for West Bengal’s MSMEs”.

    Following this, there will be an exciting fireside chat between Anurag Srivastava, Partner, PWC, and Mehul Mohanka, CEO and Managing Director, Tega Industries Limited, where they will discuss how the state of West Bengal can deliver a reliable and industrious future.

    The SME Summit will also have a special address by Sagar Daryani, co-founder of Wow Momo, a Kolkata-based multinational fast-food chain. He will share his experience on brand building that he had acquired when making momos a national business.

    Continuing with the theme of understanding the state’s potential, there will be an engaging panel discussion with industry experts and stakeholders on the topic “Look East: The Past, Present and Future of West Bengal’s Economic Contribution to India”.

    The panelists for this session include Drishleen Sethi, Director, Prune & Pony Hospitality; Sriyam Mall, EVP-EPR & Consultancy, Hulladek Recycling Pvt Ltd; Prabir Bhattacharjee, Secretary General, Tea Association of India; Tapan Nandi, Member, Committee Of Administration (COA), Council for Leather Exports (CLE); and Somesh Dasgupta, Whole Time Director, India Power Corp Ltd.

    The SME Summit will also serve as a platform providing networking opportunities to local small businesses and industry leaders. They can engage, connect and have an open dialogue.

    According to the Udyam portal, West Bengal has nearly 90 lakh MSMEs and most of them are single-person enterprises. The MSMEs in the state employ about 1.35 crore people.

    ET SME Summit
    This endeavour will be conducted under the theme of “Empowering MSMEs: Driving India's Century of Sustainable Growth”, to champion, acknowledge and fortify the Indian MSME sector. Each summit will comprise a diverse array of discussions and sessions, including panel discussions, masterclasses, and showcases of MSME solutions.

    ET Make in India SME Regional Summit is a series of on-ground events held across India to bring together local MSMEs, policymakers, enablers and industry stakeholders. It will be conducted by Economictimes.com with Adobe as Association Partner. These summits aim to unravel opportunities, tackle challenges, and foster knowledge-sharing and networking to propel the next phase of growth for Indian MSMEs.

    This is the second annual edition of the ET Make in India Regional Summit series. In the inaugural year, the programme covered Ahmedabad, Chennai and Hyderabad. The events saw a stellar turnout. The previous edition’s theme was to enable the rise of future-ready MSMEs that can power the nation’s India@100 dream.
