“Carl is working on a new consumer electronics company that I am sure will be a disruptor in the tech industry. I am excited to be part of this journey,” Shah said.
While Pei hasn't disclosed any specific details on his yet-unnamed venture, he recently told Wired that they will launch audio-related products next year.
“Kunal is one of the sharpest people I know. I am proud and glad to have him as a friend, advisor and now also an investor,“ Pei said “We are in advanced stages of our vision and are excited to introduce it to the world soon.” The venture is expected to be officially unveiled on January 27.
The Chinese-born Swedish entrepreneur, who served as a public face for OnePlus for several years, had left the firm in a surprise move in October last year, amid rumours of an internal power struggle with founder Pete Lau. Pei, however, told Wired that he did not have a fall out with Lau and it was an "amicable departure".
