Several FIRs were filed against the MLA after his remarks went viral on social media, Mollah issued an apology, and the Congress party issued a show cause notice. He has been asked to answer for his comments, failing which action will be taken against him.

The arrested person, Aftabuddin, is allegedly a close aide of two prime suspects: Rafiqul and Basiruddin. Six people including Rafiqul and Basiruddin named in FIRs registered in the case are yet to be arrested, police said.
