    Hero MotoCorp, Ather join hands for EV charging network

    Hero MotoCorp has entered into a partnership with Ather Energy to establish an interoperable fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers in India. The collaboration will enable EV users to seamlessly utilize both VIDA and AtherGrids across the country, covering 100 cities with over 1,900 fast-charging points.

    India Battery Manufacturing Vision aims 500GWh annual capacity by 2035; to bring USD 35 bn investments

    The India Energy Storage Alliance (IESA) has unveiled its 'India Battery Manufacturing Vision', aiming to achieve over 500GWh capacity by 2035. This could potentially create more than 2.6 million jobs and attract $35 billion in investment. IESA is focused on developing advanced energy storage, green hydrogen, and e-mobility technologies in India. The organization anticipates that the first gigafactory in India will begin commercial production in 2024, with a planned capacity of over 50 GWh by 2027-28. The Indian battery supply chain industry could reach a manufacturing capacity of over 1,000 GWh with the right policy and regulatory framework.

With deep investments and innovation done on processes and machines, this plant will help us to further strengthen our leadership in delivering quality vehicles”

    Ather Energy plans to make its third plant operational by next fiscal end

    The plant when completed is likely to have an installed production capacity of 10 lakh units per annum taking the total capacity of Ather Energy to over 14 lakh units per year. The company is in talks with various state governments like Maharashtra and Karnataka to set up the plant. With the commissioning of its second plant, the company's installed production capacity has gone up to 4.2 lakh units from earlier 1.2 lakh units per annum.

    The government’s efforts to encourage the EV market will be wasted if the focus remains only on the domestic market. India’s ambition should be global.
