With 650 centres across Delhi, the closure could impact 80 lakh vehicles, risking increased pollution and fines for non-compliance.

The move aims to address complaints of lax inspections leading to inaccurate certificates. Delhi is the first state to implement this measure, setting a precedent for other states and Union territories.
