      The search operation comes close on the heels of the recent operation on November 23 in Gulabgarh forest area of Rajouri in which five Army men, including two captains, and two militants, including a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander named Quari, were killed. Officials said Quari was known to be the mastermind behind the Dangri incident in January, in which seven civilians were killed and 11 others injured. They said he was instrumental in the "revival of terrorism" in the Rajouri-Poonch range.

      The three men hailing from Rajouri district of Jammu region -- Imtiyaz Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed and Mohammed Ibrar -- were killed in a remote hilly village in Shopian district on July 18, 2020 and labelled as "terrorists". National Conference leader Abdullah said on Tuesday, "We are reminded repeatedly by the Centre that our blood is cheap, that there is no value of our blood. When our people get killed, no body is bothered."

      J-K: NIA raids seven districts in Pakistan-backed terrorist conspiracy case

      The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday conducted searches at 15 locations in Jammu and Kashmir's seven districts in the Pakistan-backed terrorist conspiracy case. The Central anti-terror agency officials carried out the search operation at four places in Anantnag, three in Shopian, two each in Budgam, Srinagar and Poonch, and one each in Baramulla and Rajouri districts in the Union Territory.

      Avalanche warnings in 12 districts of J&K

      The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Saturday issued avalanche warnings in 12 districts of the Union Territory with a specific 'high danger' warning in the frontier district of Kupwara along the Line of Control in northern Kashmir.

      The home minister had on Tuesday announced that the Gujjar, Bakerwal and Pahari communities in the Union territory will get reservation benefits in accordance with the recommendations of the Justice Sharma Commission. "Our forefathers struggled for this. The announcement has brought a wave of happiness. But we want the home minister to implement this decision sooner," Ahmad said. A large number of women were also present at the rally and sought their grievances to be addressed.

      Nearly 41% votes polled till 1 pm in final phase of J&K DDC polls

      The voting started at 7 am and concluded at 2 pm, began on a dull note at various polling stations due to early morning chill as most parts of Kashmir are reeling under sub-zero temperature.

      Jammu and Kashmir DDC polls: Over 43 percent votes polled till 1 pm

      Bandipora district of north Kashmir recorded the highest of 49.78% polling in the Valley, while Rajouri district of Jammu region polled the highest of 64.54% votes across J&K till 1 pm.

      As per the figures given by the office of State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir division, Kupwara recorded a voting percentage of 28.77, Bandipora 44.82, Baramulla 37.40, Ganderbal 43.45, Budgam 36.36, Pulwama 5.66, Shopian 1.76, Kulgam 6.59 and Anantnag 23.63 till 1 pm.

      DDC polls: J&K records 40.31 per cent polling till 1 pm

      According to the figures provided by the office of the State Election Commissioner, in Kashmir Division, Kupwara recorded 34.44 per cent voting till 1 pm, Baramulla 24.69 per cent, Ganderbal 39.05 per cent, Srinagar 28.41 per cent, Budgam 37.72 per cent, Pulwama 6.96 per cent, Shopian 13.08 per cent, Kulgam 24.34 per cent and Anantnag 28.13 per cent.

      Indian Army jawan killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan in J-K's Rajouri sector

      On Wednesday, an Army porter was killed in an unprovoked ceasefire violation initiated by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla by firing mortars and other weapons, according to Chinar Corps, Indian Army.

      For the last month, Pakistan has targeted villages and army posts along the LoC and IB in the union territory killing and injuring several people besides damaging more than two dozen houses. While several attempts were made by infiltrators in the last few days to enter India along the LoC in Kupwara, Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu region with Pakistani army providing cover fire to them.
