    Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi criticised the BJP government in Lok Sabha for promoting hatred and violence through policies like Agnipath, demonetisation, and the repealed farm laws, as well as mishandling the Manipur violence issue. In a 100-minute speech, Gandhi accused the BJP and RSS of spreading violence and hatred, emphasising the principles of non-violence in Indian philosophy. He also raised concerns about the NEET paper leak and the government's refusal to discuss the issue.

    West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that the opposition INDIA bloc may not have claimed government today, but could do so in the future, emphasising a need for change and terming the BJP-led NDA government as weak and unstable. Banerjee stated that the country's mandate was against Narendra Modi, urging for a different prime minister. The TMC supremo also mentioned that her party will not attend the new government's swearing-in ceremony and will work towards repealing the Citizenship Amendment Act.

    Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Tuesday here said the INDIA bloc, if it comes to power, will repeal the amendments made to the anti-terror law UAPA and references to religion in the law meant to grant citizenship to the refugees. There is no need for such a law which does not give a person even a chance to prove his innocence, he said, referring to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

    Govt proposes new explosives law, repeal old act of 1884

    In a note for public consultation, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has sought to increase fines for violation of provisions and further streamline the process of grant of licences. Explosives include gunpowder, nitoglycerine, nitroglycol, di-nitro-toluene, and picricacid. As per the proposed Explosive Bill 2024 bill, the Central Government shall prescribe the authority competent to grant, suspend or revoke a licence and to perform certain other functions under the new Act.
