    India to host first global summit for media and entertainment sector in November

    India hosts the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) in Goa from November 20-24, alongside the International Film Festival of India (Nov 20-28). Announced by I&B Minister Vaishnaw and CM Sawant, it aims to improve IP rights, industry collaboration, and networking in the USD 27.5 billion media sector.

    MIB calls meeting of media and ad bodies to discuss self-declarations

    The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has called a meeting of media and ad industry bodies to discuss the issue of advertisers giving self-declaration certificates (SDCs) for broadcasting and publishing ads on TV, print, digital, and radio from June 18. SDCs will be given to broadcasters and publishers as proof at the time of issuing ads, certifying that their ads do not contain misleading claims and comply with regulatory guidelines.

    Ex-bureaucrat Navneet Kumar Sehgal is new Prasar Bharati chairman

    Navneet Kumar Sehgal, a retired bureaucrat, has been appointed as the new Prasar Bharati chairman, filling a post vacant for four years. He succeeds A Surya Prakash, whose term ended in February 2020. Sehgal's appointment was made by the President on the recommendation of the Selection Committee. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar chaired the meeting to select the chairman, which was also attended by Press Council of India chairperson Justice Ranjana Desai (retd) and Information and Broadcasting Secretary Sanjay Jaju.
