    Lakshya Sen loses to Qi, bows out in opening round of Badminton Asia Championships

    Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen suffered a straight-game loss to top seed Shi Yu Qi in the opening round of men's singles at the Badminton Asia Championships. Sen fought hard but lost 19-21 15-21 in the grueling opener. The Indians also lost to Priyanshu Rajawat in the men's singles opening round and Lee Zii Jia of Malaysia in the women's doubles opening round.

    China's men's team were crowned winners of the Badminton Asia Team Championships after they dispatched Malaysia 3-0 in a one-sided final Sunday. Despite that, they were far too superior for the rest having beaten Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, South Korea and finally Malaysia on their home turf.

    India Open: Satwik-Chirag enters final, erratic Prannoy bows out

    Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, former champions, advanced to the final of the India Open Super 750 tournament by defeating Tokyo Olympics bronze medallists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik. They will face Koreans Kang Min Hyuk and Seo Seung Jae in the summit clash. In another match, HS Prannoy was outplayed by China's Shi Yu Qi. Shi Yu Qi will compete against Hong Kong's Lee Cheuk Yiu in the Super 750 men's singles final. In the women's singles, China's Chen Yu Fei and Chinese Taipei's Tai Tzu Ying will face each other in a rematch of the Tokyo Olympics summit clash.

    Two-time Olympic medallist, Sindhu had overcome Jenjira Stadelmann of Switzerland to open her women's singles campaign on Wednesday 21-9, 21-16 in a 32-minute match. But she was unable to keep her momentum going.
