They obtained fraudulent refunds through false input tax credits using "C" forms. The entities involved were often registered at premises owned by syndicate members. The scam was allegedly facilitated by Excise and Taxation Department officers, including Gopi Chand Chaudhary and Narender Kumar Ranga.
