    Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Sarbananda Sonowal, along with the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu, laid the foundation stone for capacity expansion at the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Folk Medicine Research (NEIAFMR) in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh today. The North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Folk Medicine in Pasighat aims to enhance and promote traditional healthcare, particularly focusing on the healthcare needs of the Northeast region.

    The Minister assured complete support for an approximate investment of Rs 200 crores to build capacity around the medicinal plant sector of the region. This amount is aimed at creating infrastructure that will strengthen the medicinal plant storage for commercial purpose, boosting research and development of the local herbs and plants for medicinal purpose as well as providing a platform for traditional healers to further their treatments to a wider section of the society.
