    Landslides snap surface communication to several Arunachal districts

    Heavy rains in Arunachal Pradesh have caused widespread disruption, with landslides affecting multiple districts and roads. Since April, four people have died due to natural calamities. Over 72,900 people and 257 villages have been impacted by floods and landslides. Infrastructure damage includes roads, bridges, power lines, and water supply systems. Itanagar is facing a severe water crisis. Key roads, including NH-415 and NH-513, are blocked. Authorities are working on restoration, but some areas remain cut off.

    Rain, hailstorm causes extensive damage in Arunachal district

    Heavy rain accompanied by hailstorm caused significant damage in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday evening. The storm disrupted power supply and surface communication to several villages under Tuting sub-division, damaging three-foot suspension bridges over the Siang river in Mayum, Zido, and Singging villages. Ration supply for army personnel stationed at Mayum top was also affected. Authorities have cautioned against using the damaged bridges until they are fully restored.

Former chief minister and president of the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), Nabam Tuki, also filed his nomination from the Arunachal West seat.

    Several district administrations in Arunachal Pradesh have ordered the temporary suspension of school activities as cases of conjunctivitis rise. The disease is reportedly affecting children the most. Namsai and East Siang administrations have ordered school closures for several days to curb the spread of the infection among students.

The Chief Minister has set an ambitious target to increase milk production manifold. He also instructed officials to restrict illegal timber trade and take steps toward planting saplings and seedlings to enrich the ecology of the state.
