Situation normal after Kokernag encounter: J&K DGP Dilbag Singh
Jammu and Kashmir DGP Dilbag Singh stated that the recent Kokernag encounter has not disrupted the peaceful environment in the valley and that militancy is currently at its lowest in Kashmir. Singh explained that the militants had the advantage of firing first in the encounter, resulting in the loss of lives of several army personnel and a police officer. He emphasized that the situation in the region was normal before and after the incident, dismissing any misconceptions that it would have a significant impact.
Efforts on to finish residual militancy, drug menace in JK: DGP
Singh said the attempts to revive militancy in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch and adjoining Reasi was scuttled to a large extent by the security forces through various successful operations, while attempts are on to neutralize those who have managed to infiltrate into this side. "We have had back to back successful operations in Reasi and Rajouri in the recent past, resulting in the killing of (several) terrorists," he said.
Anantnag: Kokernag encounter over; LeT's Uzair Khan among 2 killed
Additional Director General of Police of Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, reached the encounter spot along with GoC Chinar Corps, Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, to review the situation on the ground. Kumar briefly interacted with reporters to inform them about the conclusion of one of the longest and high-casualty operations in recent years.
Anantnag gunfight over; LeT commander Uzair Khan among 2 terrorists killed: Police
"Till now, LeT commander Uzair Khan's body has been recovered. The dead body of another terrorist is visible, but it has not been possible to retrieve it yet," the ADGP told reporters in Anantnag. He said the gunfight, which began in the Gadole forest area of the south Kashmir district on Wednesday last week, is over, but the search operation will continue.

Anantnag encounter day 6: Operation Kokernag continues; forces recover charred body from hideout
The forces claim this is the most technologically advanced operation, in which heron drones and AI-based robots are being used. Last Wednesday, two senior army officials and a J&K police officer were killed in the initial hours of the gunfight. They were identified as Colonel Manpreeet Singh, Commanding Officer of the 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Aashish Dhonchak from the same unit and DySP of J&K police Humayun Muzammil Bhat.
Encounter enters day 5 in J-K, forces widen op area
The operation in Kokernag area of Anantnag, Kashmir, has entered its fifth day, with armed forces firing mortar and shells in search of trapped militants. The security cordon has been extended to neighboring villages to prevent militants from escaping. A charred body was found in the forests, but its identity remains unknown.
