Why NDA's seat tally relies on 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra

With 48 seats, Maharashtra ranks second only to Uttar Pradesh. The BJP-led alliance clinched 42 seats in 2014 and 41 in 2019, contributing significantly to the party's majority in the Lok Sabha. However, this time around, the BJP is bracing for a challenging battle, with party insiders predicting a more modest outcome of 30-32 seats in an optimistic scenario.

Pune Lok Sabha Election Result 2024: Murlidhar Mohol vs Dhangekar Ravindra Hemraj, who is winning?

After an intense seven-phase Lok Sabha election, exit polls indicate a significant lead for the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) over the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) in Maharashtra. The NDA, including Shiv Sena Shinde and Ajit Pawar's NCP, is predicted to win between 22 and 41 seats, while the MVA is expected to secure between 23 and 25 seats. The election results, set to be announced on June 4, will have wider implications for Maharashtra politics.

BJP fends off 'statute change' charge in some Maharashtra seats after Hegde's comment

BJP's repeated emphasis on SCs, STs and OBCs comes as it senses that poll arithmetic in Maharashtra has changed considerably since the 2019 parliamentary polls. This time it looks like the Dalits and Muslims seem to be backing Congress-Sena-NCP (SP) alliance in the state.

Hatkanangale Lok Sabha constituency: A three-cornered fight where many factors play out

The fight is mainly among sitting MP Dhairyasheel Mane of the Shiv Sena, Satyajeet Patil-Sarudkar of the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction of the Sena and Raju Shetti of the Swabhimaan Shetkari Paksh. The other two, Dadasaheb Chavgonda Patil of the Prakash Ambedkar-led Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) and farmer leader Raghunathdada Patil, could play spoilsport for any of the three.

Success during elections is sum of smaller parties

In the run up to the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, smaller parties are in big demand, putting them in a negotiating position, whether it is with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance NDA or the Opposition's United Progressive Alliance. These parties had won less than 10 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, with some drawing a blank. But their hold on some vote banks is what makes them attractive.

With Oppn in disarray, BJP eyes poll sweep in Maharashtra

BJP and ally Shiv Sena are yet to announce the seat-sharing pact for the polls, scheduled on October 21.
