Swami criticized both BJP and Congress for neglecting the Dharwad constituency and announced his entry into politics to create political awareness. Joshi responded by stating that Swami's comments are blessings for him, and Yediyurappa has confirmed that Joshi will not be replaced.

The signatories to this petition include Deputy CM DK Shivakumar and Agriculture Minister N Cheluvaraswamy as well as Congress MLAs.
