    The Supreme Court on Wednesday agreed to examine CBI’s plea challenging Bombay High Court's order granting interim bail to Videocon Group chairman Venugopal Dhoot. A bench of Justices A S Bopanna and M M Sundresh issued notice to Dhoot after taking note of the submission of Additional Solicitor General S V Raju, appearing for the CBI, that the bail was granted without examining the case diary.

    Lenders and the National Company Law Tribunal have approved Twinstar's bid to acquire the Videocon companies for ₹2,962 crore under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. Dhoot challenged this in the Supreme Court and sought a direction to the lenders to accept his ₹31,789 crore resolution plan. On April 17, the top court sought Twinstar's response to the appeal.

    SC seeks Twinstar, Videocon RP replies on Dhoot plea

    Dhoot pleaded before the court that his resolution plan entails a "zero haircut" to lenders and also sought quashing of a National Company Law Appellate Tribunal's order that had approved Twinstar Technologies' ₹2,962-crore bid. Lenders had in 2020 rejected Dhoot's bid and instead approved Twinstar's resolution proposal by a 95.08% vote.
