According to Medi-claim insurance rules, one cannot make claims with two insurance companies at the same time. Please tell me more about the rule? Can I claim from two policies and under what circumstances?
If an insured person has coverage under two indemnity insurance policies, he has the right to choose under which policy he wants to make the claim. If the claimed amount is higher than the sum insured under the policy on which he has first made the claim, the insured person can claim the balance amount from the second indemnity policy. So, keep that in mind while lodging claim under two policies.

I am looking to buy a health insurance policy for myself for about Rs 10 lakh. Most of the policies have some exclusions including critical diseases like cancer. What is the most comprehensive policy that will cover critical diseases as well?
It is very important to have a comprehensive health insurance policy which will cover the expenses of hospitalisation treatment of illnesses, including critical ones such as cancer.

While purchasing such a policy, you should go for a higher sum insured in view of the ever-increasing cost of medical expenses. Also look at the waiting periods, sub-limits as well as exclusions. The wider a policy is in terms of coverage and sum insured, the better it is for you as it would take care of your needs.

In addition to such a medical expenses insurance policy, I suggest you to buy a critical illness benefit insurance policy. Such policies cover listed critical illnesses and pay the sum insured specified in the policy on diagnosis of a critical illness as listed in the policy.

Critical illness policies cannot replace the medical expenses policies, but supplement or complement the same. Due to occurrence of a critical illness, the income-generating capacity of an individual gets affected and such a policy provides protection against the same.

I have a car insurance for the past six years without any claim. The car and the insurance are in my father's name. Now, I want to buy a new car in my name with benefit of no-claim bonus (NCB) of the old car, which my father is going to sell. How can I claim 50% no-claim bonus of previous car for my new car?
The entitlement for NCB follows the fortune of the original insured, not the vehicle or the policy. Since your father was originally insured with NCB benefit, and not you, you will not be able to avail of this benefit. If the new car is in your father's name, then the benefits from the previous policy can be availed by your father while taking insurance for the new car.
